Apple confirmed to Mashable on Friday that it launched an iPhone trade-in program at all of its 250 retail stores in the U.S.
The program works similar to traditional buyback programs: Customers can trade in their old iPhones for credit towards a new model in store. The amount depends on the device's age and condition.
There are a couple caveats for the program, however. Customers must have a contract in order to take advantage of the buyback program, and they must walk out of the store with a new phone, rather than simply receive credit to be used at a later date.
